A lot of homeowners think the first step in selling is calling an agent when they’re fully ready to move.
In reality, the best first step usually happens much earlier.
Most people start with a thought.
Maybe it’s:
- wondering what the home would sell for
- needing more space
- thinking about downsizing
- wanting a different location
- or just being curious what options exist
The mistake some people make is thinking they need to have everything figured out before starting the conversation.
Guess what? You don’t.
The best first step is usually just gathering information to help make an informed decision.
That could mean:
- understanding what your home might realistically sell for
- talking through timing
- understanding what buyers are doing
- figuring out what updates matter or don't
- or building a rough game plan
The people who start thinking through the process early usually feel the least stressed later.
Not because they rushed.
Because they had time to make smart decisions.
You don’t need to be ready today.
But if moving this year has crossed your mind even slightly it’s usually worth at least understanding what your options could look like.
If you’ve been thinking about selling and just want to talk through what your options might look like, I’m always happy to help.
